Have you heard about it? Ghengiz Khan's Genes Lingering in USA
The first American to be able to claim descent from Genghis Khan has been discovered. He is Thomas Robinson, an associate professor of accounting at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida.
Robinson was researching his family tree and had established that his great-great-grandfather, John Robinson, had emigrated from Cumbria in England to Illinois. Reaching a dead end, in 2003 he submitted a scraping of cells from the inside of his cheek to Oxford Ancestors. This company traces people's ancestry to specific regions of the world based on their Y chromosomes, which tracks paternal descent, or on their mitochondrial DNA, which is inherited through the female line.
In an interview he said "They told me my mother's side of the family came from France and Spain and my father's side probably originated in Central Europe."
How did Genghis Khan's Y chromosome get into a family that has lived for many generations in the Lake District of northern England? Genghis Khan's empire stretched from the Pacific Ocean to the Caspian Sea. One possibility was that the Vikings might have transferred slaves from the Caspian region to the Orkney and Shetland Islands, which they controlled in the 13th century, although their power on the British mainland was waning. Viking boats reached the Caspian by sailing on the rivers of Russia and being hauled overland.
One of the slaves, or his descendants, might have ended up in Cumbria and assumed the surname Robinson.
Another possibility is that a later Robinson had a child out of wedlock by a man from Central Europe. But this would seem less likely if there are many other Robinsons in the Lake District who carry the conqueror's Y chromosome.
How many more people from Ghengiz's genes are out there?

Yes, science is moving with gigantic strides and I agree with you that "we learn something new everytime we turn around these days".
They are now using bacteria to make stronger buildings and consolidate the soil under tall buildings.
How is everything up there, my friend. I was really missing my friends here.
All the best for you.
I hope he has no flu. Please, take care so that you will not get the flu. The weather is so capricious in Australia, sunny and warm today, rainy and cold tomorrow.
I love science and scientific stuff, I did not forget my promise about sending a topic about man getting mixed with machines.
All the best,
Long time no "see". hope all is well with you. If yo want more info on interesting DNA connections..check out ayesart.blogster. He's had this done too. He's done mega research...[HEART]
The Sons of Hamm?.[THUMBUP]
best wishes,
This is incredible news. Thank you for sharing this.
Ghengis Khan was a vicious warrior who stretched his empire from the peaks of Asia to the bulks of Persia and beyond. His empire must have been vast, however, history textbooks have recognised the territorial gains of Alexander in the Mediterranean and beyond.
Have they also found the descendants of Alexander and Cyrus?
Thank you once again.
